Amazon and QuadReal partner in Vancouver and Toronto to expand Canadian tech hubs
QuadReal is pleased to advance its partnership with Amazon in Canada by welcoming the technology company to all leasable office space at The Post in downtown Vancouver. This extends the company’s earlier commitment to this new project. We are also excited to facilitate a home for Amazon’s business expansion in Toronto at 18 York, a part of the Southcore Financial Centre complex in downtown Toronto which includes 120 Bremner where Amazon is currently a tenant.
Between Vancouver and Toronto, Amazon has announced 3,500 new corporate and tech jobs that will support business teams across its company, including AWS, Alexa, Amazon Advertising, and Retail and Operations Technology.
At The Post, Amazon’s employees will occupy the 1.13 million square feet of office space, while retailers will provide services and food and beverage offerings in more than 185,000 square feet of retail, making this a bustling hub in the Crosstown area of downtown Vancouver. It will also be a draw for the surrounding community with an outdoor plaza, light-filled retail atrium and green spaces that will invite people to gather and socialize. Located on a full city block on West Georgia Street across from the main public library, the former Canada Post regional processing facility is one of the most ambitious heritage redevelopment projects in Canada’s history.
Amazon’s dedication to the communities in which it operates is a commitment that QuadReal shares. We are proud to be managing these projects as part of British Columbia Investment Corporation’s (BCI) global portfolio.
“We are proud to work collaboratively and closely with the dedicated team at Amazon as its commitment to Vancouver and Toronto expands and as it invests today and for tomorrow in Canada,” said Remco Daal, President, Canadian Real Estate.
