QuadReal Partners in Launch of Digital Innovation Initiative
On January 17th, 2017, with Urban Living Futures, Intel Canada, the City of Toronto and Microsoft, QuadReal proudly announced our partnership in the UPPlift: Toronto initiative to promote smart buildings and smart cities.
UPPLift: Toronto is an urban pilot program (UPP) created to identify innovations and facilitate live demonstration of technologies aimed at resolving challenges in the built environment, ensuring building owners and managers achieve cost savings, improved operations and value-added features and benefits for their tenants and communities.
At a launch event held in the lobby of Commerce Court West, QuadReal CEO Dennis Lopez, Microsoft Canada President Kevin Peesker and the City of Toronto’s Chief Transformation Officer Michael Kolm encouraged established and emerging innovators to submit cutting-edge technological solutions to help serve our tenants better.
As a pilot program, UPPLift: Toronto is a virtual technology accelerator which, as the speakers at the launch event noted, involves an intensive effort to develop solutions that will ensure that the “smart city” will function at the forefront of digital transformation for decades to come.
More than 100 guests, VIPs and media attended the event, including Her Honour Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.
